Silat Kumango is a style of traditional pencak silat originating from Nagari Kumango, Limapuluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra. This style was pioneered by Sheikh Abdurrahman Al-Khalidi in the 19th century and combines martial arts with Islamic values. From the beginning, Silat Kumango was taught as a means of preaching and forming morals. This uniqueness makes it one of the prides of Minangkabau culture which continues to be preserved to this day

Kumango Silat movements are famous for being fast, flexible and deadly, with complex footwork. Throwing, locking and low stance techniques are his trademarks when facing opponents. Every move is designed to rely on reflexes and cunning, not just physical strength. The philosophy of "adat basandi syarak, syarak basandi Kitabullah" is the main basis for every practice.

Currently, Kumango Silat has developed rapidly and is studied in various regions, even abroad. This martial art not only trains physical and fighting skills, but also forms character, discipline and emotional intelligence. The Indonesian government designated pencak silat as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, making it a symbol of national pride. By studying Kumango Silat, the younger generation is helping to preserve the noble traditions of Minangkaba
